  Run down of traffic court: Arrive on time. Court starts 30 minutes late. A few jailed individuals go first, ~30 minutes. Judge calls last names A-L. Say your name. Judge knocks your violation down to a point where you have no points on a Georgia license or if you're a super speeder, it will go one tier below. You still have to pay the super speeder fee. Pay fine, leave. The entire process takes about 3 hours if you're unfortunate enough to have a last name with W or something. Notes: The court fee, unlisted on the court website, is $70.30. Take this into consideration, especially if you're out of state. Georgia reports all speeding violations to your home state, which might put points on your license. Oftentimes, it's better to just pay outright and give the cops their lunch money. For the most part, the judge, not the DA, makes the final decision. He will not knock a speeding ticket down to an equipment violation even if you ask to maintain the higher fine. I think you have to take that up with the DA. If you are under 18, the judge will violate the separation of church and state and allow you to go to church X (usually 10) times and take pictures of 4 roadside crosses for the deceased. You need a letter from the pastor confirming visits. Opinions: The cops probably can't tell the difference between a circle and a square. They're barely intelligent enough to hand speeding tickets out like candy. The judge is a conservative old man. He lamented the fact that marijuana was being legalized in a few states across the nation. Bottom line: Shell out the money for the ticket, then buy a radar detector. Use that and Waze so you don't have to buy lunch for the Bloomingdale cops, or other GA police.
